The Paragon Building Milton Keynes

Project Paragon Building

Project Type: Residential
Location: Milton Keynes
Completion: 2017
Value: £1.5m

DESCRIPTION

At the start of RED Construction, the Paragon Building was our inaugural project, leading to the investment needed to make our current position possible.

The Paragon Building was originally five adjoining office buildings spread over three floors above ground and a basement level. Initial works commenced with the conversion into 24 apartments. Following an additional planning application, a lightweight steel-framed box was added to the roof, which provided three penthouse apartments, bringing the total development to 27 open market apartments.

The structural fabric of the existing buildings remained whilst all other aspects of the project were new, including windows and curtain walling, cladding to the new penthouse levels and all external works.

Along with the complete remodelling of the internal spaces to create high-end apartments, a new plant room was constructed in the basement area. This provided a central plant for heating and hot & cold water to all apartments. A BMS system monitoring energy consumption on a flat by flat basis was also installed.

The apartments themselves were a mixture of 1 and 2 bedrooms, with most apartments having at least one en-suite and were completed to a high level of specification.
