The award-winning voco Zeal at Exeter Science Park has added two more prestigious accolades to its growing list of achievements, winning Leisure & Tourism Project of the Year at the 2025 Michelmores Property Awards and the Climate Action Award at the Constructing Excellence South West Awards.
These latest honours recognise the project’s pioneering approach to sustainable development, featuring the UK’s first photovoltaic cladding system, net-zero energy performance, and BREEAM Outstanding certification. Designed to align with the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge targets, the scheme sets a new benchmark for low-carbon hospitality in the UK. As the main contractor responsible for constructing the hotel, our team delivered the project to the highest standards of quality, safety, and sustainability. Working closely with all partners, we helped translate ambitious design and environmental goals into a built reality that continues to raise the bar for low-carbon hospitality. The recent wins build on earlier successes, including the BREEAM Award for Best New Construction/Commercial Project and the Sustainability Award at the Insider Media South West Awards for the most Sustainable Project of the Year. Together, these achievements bring the project’s total to four major industry awards.
These awards recognise not only the ambition and technical excellence behind the scheme, but also the collaborative effort that shaped it from the outset. Delivered in partnership with Zeal Hotel Projects, IHG, Valor Hospitality, ECE Westworks, Stantec (formerly Hydrock), Introba, Westworks Interiors, Exeter Science Park, and SCS, the project demonstrates what can be achieved when innovation and sustainability drive every decision.
