DESCRIPTION

Our London team carried out an extensive development of Townsend House in the heart of London’s Victoria district. Designed to follow the curved line of the street, the 35,500 sq ft project encompassed a comprehensive rebuild of a commercial office building with high quality residential space above.

RED’s work most notably saw the implementation of contemporary sandstone on precast concrete panels to the façade, with dark granite grey spandrels, positioned to define the different uses within the building. Sympathetic to the surrounding Art Deco-inspired architecture and heritage of the previous building at the site, RED’s team installed projecting bay windows, intricate metalwork, and scalloped details across the exterior.

The total development spanned the building’s six storeys, including basement space, and the creation of retail units along the ground floor. Four floors are assigned high-spec workspace, while two additional 2,400 sq ft upper floors have been developed into five premium duplex apartments, designed by architects Frederick Gibberd and interior design studio, Studio Ashby.
