RED welcomes students for Work Experience Week 2025

Last week, we welcomed 11 students as part of our Work Experience Programme – a week designed to offer meaningful insight into the construction industry, both on site and in the office, and to provide an understanding of what happens beyond the hard hats.
The group visited 40 Broadway, Pall Mall, and 8 Lancelot sites, shadowing our Design, Commercial, Sustainability, and Project Management teams. They explored what day-to-day life looks like across different roles and gained a first-hand view of how each discipline contributes to the built environment.
To put learning into practice, they were tasked with developing and presenting a full tender proposal. It was a chance to understand how strategy, communication, and collaboration are just as critical to construction as physical materials and technical knowledge.
The energy and engagement the students brought were fantastic. We enjoyed seeing their genuine willingness to learn and how they quickly grew in confidence, making the most of every opportunity. We’re already planning for next year’s programme and look forward to welcoming more young people ready to explore their future in the built environment.
During their visit to 40 Broadway, the students had the chance to hear from James Burchell from Tellon Capital, our client on the scheme, who generously shared his time, advice, and perspective on the industry from a developer’s point of view. They also met with our CEO, Graham Sturge, who spoke openly about his career journey. These conversations offered insight into leadership, reflecting RED’s open, inclusive culture, where curiosity is welcomed and everyone is approachable.
