Building Futures Through Partnership with The Land Collective

As part of The Curtain House project’s social value commitments, the project team, in partnership with Aviva Investors, has continued to champion opportunities for young people through a long-term collaboration with The Land Collective — a youth-focused organisation dedicated to upskilling and inspiring underrepresented talent within the built environment sector.

Earlier this month, the team was delighted to host the 2025 Black Girls In Property (BGIP) cohort for the final engagement event of the project. The day began at Aviva’s Hoxton Campus, where students heard from both client and contractor representatives, gaining insights into careers in construction and property investment. Following the presentations, the group visited The Curtain House site, where twenty-one students — including six who had first attended in 2023 — experienced the unique opportunity to witness the building’s transformation first-hand. From its original state to its nearing completion, students saw how retained heritage features have been seamlessly integrated with new design elements, including the addition of a Level 4 mezzanine. This latest event marks the culmination of a journey that began in 2023, when the project first partnered with the BGIP initiative ahead of construction works. Since then, the collaboration with The Land Collective has expanded to include initiatives such as the three-day Investing in Your Future programme with Aviva Investors and internship placements at RED for BGIP students.

Now in its fourth collaboration with The Land Collective, The Curtain House project stands as a testament to the power of sustained engagement. Together with Aviva Investors, the team continues to demonstrate how social value initiatives can extend beyond construction — creating meaningful, lasting opportunities for young people across London.
