DESCRIPTION

The state-of-the-art redevelopment of Axtell House presents a prime example of RED Construction’s aptitude for considered restoration whilst delivering to the highest quality with sustainability credentials.

Located in Soho, Central London, the prominent Axtell House was initially constructed in the 1920’s and boasts its original art deco features.

RED’s Construction’s extensive restoration works has ensured the building’s suitability as a world-class work environment. The core of the structure was removed and later repositioned. Three storeys were entirely reconstructed to complement the original structure whilst increasing useable space.

A striking communal rooftop garden was also included, and the building’s ground floor was remodelled with an impressive new entrance with suitable Art deco-inspired detailing and finishes.

Various aspects of the project were entirely bespoke, from the exterior CLT panels to the precast interior concrete tiles.

RED implemented innovative measures throughout the process to enable the building’s ground floor tenants in residing without disruption.

The restored Axtell House has provided London with a remarkable, practical, and future-proofed space, sympathetic to its original architectural heritage. The whole building is pre-let in its entirety to VF Corporation, owner of multiple global fashion brands including Timberland and North Face. It is used as their Head Office and as a venue for brand showcasing.

Axtell House has been one of our most prominent and ambitious redevelopments to date, and RED Construction played a pivotal role in the successful delivery of this exciting project.

Unphased by the difficult and technical aspects of the high-quality scheme, the team at RED carried out their role in their project with expertise and professionalism. RED’s experience with Central London buildings in conservations areas was also immensely valuable, with the team confidently and respectfully handling the unique challenge of Axtell House’s unified historic and contemporary elements. Crucially for us, RED managed the project in a way that allowed for minor disruption to the busy surrounding Soho area, and with the client’s ground floor tenants able to operate throughout the works.

Axtell House’s state-of-the-art structure and superior finishes are a testament to RED, as is the swift signing of the space to one of the world’s leading retail companies.
